As some of you may remember, in November 2007 Ellie Catherine Roberts died. She was just under 6 weeks old. She was a first child, first grand-daughter and first niece. The coroner recorded cause of death as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Obviously the whole family is heartbroken but with the help of their family and friends, and the help of the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) they are managing to come to terms with what has happened.
Not only does FSID research into the causes and prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) it offers free counselling to the families, putting them in touch with people in their area who have had a similar experience i.e. a young mum with a young mum, a granny with a granny.
I know it's only a mile, but the Mile in Memory walk taking place in Liverpool next week is a national event aiming to promote awareness of the cause, to raise money for it, and for the families to find others like them. I’m not asking for a lot, just whatever you can give. Imagine how you would feel if it was YOUR baby or YOUR first grand-child, then think again about how YOUR small donation could help thousands more like Ellie's family
